Creating and editing on iPad, leveled up

iPad users now have access to the object property panel, to create interactive actions and camera viewpoints on each step. iPad users can also edit using advanced transformation tools like snapping, pivot points, copy and paste transforms, and custom material and texture settings.

With actions, iPad users can add interactivity to 3D objects or UI that take viewers to another step in the same Jig, or open a website. Viewers of your Jigs on Apple Vision Pro can also be linked from one Jig to another with actions.

On iPad you can now add a default camera viewpoint to any step in your Jig. This moves non-AR viewers to where you want them to see on each step when they transition from one step to another.

When moving objects around, iPad users can now snap 3D models together based on their surfaces or vertices, or snap them to the ground. You can also edit pivot points, adjust position, rotation, and scale transforms with numerical input, and edit material settings and texture effects, all on the go using the JigSpace iPad app.

Other improvements:

Help hints in the Jig editing workshop now contain short videos to make it easier to learn features while you're editing them, right when you need them.

You can now also open Jigs to edit from anywhere with deep-linking into edit mode, which opens the corresponding Jig directly in the Workshop on desktop, so you can jump from the dashboard or an email alert, straight into editing with one click.

We’ve also squashed a range of bugs that will improve performance and stability across the apps.

New capabilities for creators

Better 3D asset management

Sort objects into categories to make it easier to find what you’re looking for, and share content across teams.

You can also save a model from the Jig apps back into a library category.

Learn how to manage your 3D objects in the new library.

Object list is now on iPad

Easier to see everything in your Jig, select, hide, parent, rename.

Download now or go to the AppStore to update.

Edit your Jig presentation’s scene root

If you need to scale, rotate, or reposition your entire Jig - you can now edit the overall Jig scene root instead of selecting all objects individually and transforming.

This is ideal for Jigs with many models in them, or content with a large real world scale like construction, rail, or aviation that need to transform many metres from one step to another.

Learn more about editing the scene root.

Object list tooltip

See how many objects and triangles your assets have at a glance…

  • Hover on objects get total sub-objects and triangles
  • Hover on a mesh, get total triangles
  • Improvements to replacing objects and connecting directly to your team object library from Blender.

Other editor improvements

  • There is now more room to enter text in labels in the editor and we fixed a bug with scrolling through text.
  • Steps edit mode now automatically closes when selecting 3D objects, reducing unnecessary clicks.
  • Viewpoint button in the step tile no longer deselects your current object.
  • Spin tool now prevents enabling spin when speed or all axes are set to 0.
  • A range of bugs and general fixes were updated relating to performance, snapping, and materials.

New: Camera viewpoints

Add a viewpoint to a step to set the camera position

Each step of your Jig can now have a camera viewpoint that the camera moves to in your Jig when viewing Jigs in non-AR mode.

To add a view point to your Jig you need the desktop app for Windows or Mac and have the right-side property panel open

  1. Move your Jig around to your desired angle and zoom. Use space + drag the canvas to pan around if you need.
  2. Click on the step thumbnail in the timeline or on the canvas to show step properties
  3. Click on + Viewpoint to add a camera view point to the current step
  4. Click preview and navigate between steps to see the camera move to your viewpoint on the step.

Learn more about using camera viewpoints.

Right click menu

Desktop users can now right click to duplicate or delete steps in the timeline, replicate properties, or manage Jigs in My Jigs.

More right click commands will continue to be added with upcoming releases to ensure our power users have better access to tools when in-context.

Big improvement to showing, hiding, deleting user experience

Updates to hiding and deleting objects

Control the visibility of parts of your models on each step using the updated toolbar or object list feature.

We've made it easier to hide and show objects from step to step, without accidentally deleting them.

To prevent accidental data loss, deleting is now restricted to removing an entire object from all steps in your Jig . This should help users from deleting parts of objects on a specific step, and then later wanting to undo or restore these parts, which is not possible. Now, you can hide an object easily, and "unhide" it on any step. We think this refresh is clearer and more intuitive.

Rename objects

When we import objects from your CAD files, their names are often messy, inaccurate, or meaningless. Now you can double click on any object in the object list, and rename it, making them easier to find, reference, and display.

Renamed objects will appear for your viewers in the Apple Vision Pro object list viewer.

Replace models and AI-enhanced thumbnails

Replacing models

You can now replace any 3D model in-place while preserving its full setup, making iteration faster and letting you swap placeholder models without redoing work.

For example, if you've made a Jig with 10 steps and several models, and you need to swap a 3D model out for an updated one.

The replace model feature will apply the same position, rotation, and scale properties to the replacement model so you don't need to format and transform the model again.

To replace a 3D model:

  • Select a 3D model you want to replace (whole model, not a sub-object)
  • Click + button and Replace 3D object
  • Select a new file from your library or local drive
  • The new model will inherit the old models position, rotation, scale, as the model it replaces.

AI-enhanced thumbnails

Generate photorealistic thumbnails for your Jigs based on your content as well as your Jig name and description.
